ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. We are also the leading provider of a number of specialist services, including neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care, and specialised mental health services, for the upper South and lower North Islands, a population of about 900,000 people. Our DHB has an annual budget of more than $1 billion, which we use to deliver health services directly and contract external providers to provide care, such as general practices, rest homes and pharmacists.

CCDHB operates – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kapiti Health Centre in Paraparaumu.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role assists the Team leader for Musculoskeletal Outpatient Hand & Physiotherapy to manage the Hand therapy team across 3 sites – Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Community Hospital and Kapiti health centre. The role also should attract a Hand therapist with comprehensive hand therapy clinical skills. The role will mainly work clinically in Wellington and Kenepuru, assisting in fracture clinics and with own clinics in Therapies. The Hand therapy service also receives drop in referrals from ED and orthopaedic clinics. We are looking for a highly skilled and hardworking therapist who is keen to continue to develop the DHB Hand therapy service.

This is a permanent, part-time (0.9FTE / 36 hours per week) role.

DUTIES

  • Clinical workload includes own clinics and support for Orthopaedic/fracture clinics.
  • Support with some operational aspects of management of the Hand therapy team.
  • Supervision and support of rotational physiotherapists, hand therapists in training and occupational/physiotherapy students.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Highly skilled Hand therapist with some experience of management
  • NZ registered Occupational therapist or Physiotherapist. Registered with Hand Therapy NZ.
  • Comprehensive experience of management of all Hand conditions.
